SEARCH Severe Hypertension Telehealth Study Highlighted at CROI 2024

At the 31th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI 2024), Dr. Matt Hickey (pictured above) of the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) presented results of the Severe Hypertension Telehealth Study on behalf of the SEARCH team. The SEARCH Telehealth intervention for severe hypertension doubled the proportion of people with severe hypertension who had controlled blood pressure after 48 weeks compared to patient-centered clinic-based hypertension care. People with untreated severe hypertension are at high risk for heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure, elevating the importance of care models that ensure early and sustained hypertension treatment.
