Meet Our Team: Dr. Diane Havlir Principal Investigator


MEET OUR TEAM: Dr. Diane Havlir is the Principle Investigator of the ongoing SEARCH study and founder of the SEARCH Collaboration. Dr. Havlir is a Professor of Medicine at UCSF and Chief of the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital. She was a physician in training at UCSF when the AIDS epidemic emerged in the 1980s and has cared for HIV- infected patients for over 25 years. She is an accomplished researcher who pioneered some of the first studies of HIV antiretroviral therapy and drugs to prevent AIDS complications. SEARCH is a the next bold endeavor in her mission to end the HIV epidemic. The attached video profiles Dr. Havlir's journey working in HIV/AIDS and her commitment to ending AIDS through SEARCH, which includes the three pillars that are central to stopping the epidemic - preventing HIV infection with PrEP, testing and treating people immediately upon diagnosis of HIV, and retaining people in HIV care.
